2025 GUIDED MAINE BLACK BEAR HUNTING
We have exclusive access to hunt on 180,000 acres of prime black bear territory in zones 5, 6, 10 and 11, providing many options for you to hunt, as well as remote hunts. Before black bear hunting season begins, each site is prepared by setting up our hunting stands and game cameras. During the month of August, LL&C staff begin baiting in and around our sites with quality feed to attract black bears. Being creatures of habit, the bears stop by the bait sites on a regular basis, which is captured on our game cameras to track their routine at each site.
The 2025 season for bear hunting over bait runs from August 25th to October 31st.
Opportunities exist for non-hunters who wish to accompany our guides and help after a successful hunt.
After a successful hunt, your bear is kept in our walk-in cooler unit. Your harvested game will be kept cool to prevent slippage and meat spoiling.
ACCOMMODATIONS FOR HUNTERS
LL&C offers spacious accommodations for the members of your hunting party during your 7-night/6-day hunting package in our lodge building. Plan to arrive at the lodge mid-afternoon for check-in. You'll enjoy home-cooked meals throughout your stay. We like to welcome our hunters the night of their arrival with a Maine surf and turf dinner (lobster when it's available, steak or chicken and blueberry pie) while you get acquainted with your fellow hunters. Be sure to check out our Hall of Fame trophy wall in the lodge dining room. Every morning, a hearty breakfast will be served before your day of hunting begins. We make our boats and canoes available during non-hunting hours if you'd like to do some fishing.

Bears in excess of 500 lbs. have been caught using our trapping system. Our pre-baited trapping locations are only used for trapping. These sites are determined by using cell cameras to target large bears. After many years of research and trial and error, we have developed a great working working system for our cable snare trapping clients. Some say they come to Libby's Lodge & Canty's because we "know how to put a bracelet on a pig."
